REPRESENTATION IN INTERNATIONAL FORA
India is a member of the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) since 1955. The Naval Hydrographic Department is continuously represented in the various IHO committees like Hydrographic Services and Standards Committee (HSSC), Capacity Building Sub-Committee (CBSC), Advisory Board on the Law of the Sea (ABLOS), General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans – Guiding Committee (GGC) and World Wide Navigational Warning Services Sub-Committee (WWNWS).India is also a member of few Working Groups(WG) i.e. S-100(WG), Nautical Information Provision Working Group (NIPWG), ENC standards Maintenance Working Group (ENCWG), Tides, Water Level and Currents Working Group (TWCWG), Chart Standardisation and Paper Chart Working Group (CSPCWG), Hydrographic Committee on Antartica (HCA) and Worldwide ENC Database Working Group (WENDWG). India is also the founder member of the North Indian Ocean Hydrographic Commission (NIOHC) and Assosciate Member of the South Africa Islands Hydrographic Commission (SAIHC). India is the region ‘J’ Coordinator fot INT Charts and Navarea VIII coordinator Maritime Safety Information Services (MSI). NHO is member of ICA.
